Springtime: New Beginnings
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Springtime is related to the Wood Phase the Liver & Gall Bladder Meridians, Morning, childhood, the fresh green color and incredible expansive vigor of new shoots pushing through the frozen ground
In the body the Wood Phase, Liver Organ rules the movement of Blood and Qi throughout the body. The winds of springtime in the body are characterized by headaches, irritability, allergies, sneezing, running eyes, cramps, PMS: spring fever!
Because we need heavier food to keep us warm in the winter, Springtime is the perfect time to fast and cleanse to support the Liver in it's important function of cleansing the blood.
It is the perfect time to eat the fresh green sprouts-to grow them and eat organic greens of every kind absorbing the chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals we need to replenish our stores after the long winter. In our household of three we are going through 5 pound bags of spinach weekly!, Masaji & Rooibus help also!
This is a great time to get out the sprouting jars and start planting. I attach pictures of our baby lettuce plants growing under lights ready for the coldframe.
Please find attached below a list of various cleansing methods using aromatherapy essential oils. Please be warned that only therapeutic grade pure organic or wildcrafted essential oils should be used orally and best under the supervision of a qualified healthcare provider. I trust the oils provided by Dana Young at Beyoung eo.com. To save money, join the company for free, in order to purchase at wholesale prices You can order the oils for the Liver cleanse or the L-Form or Digestive Cleanses as a kit.
it is important to take the liver cleanse on an empty stomach, preferably 1/2 hour before breakfast.
Those of you familiar with the Master Cleanse will recognize it in the formula for the Supercharged Liver Cleanse below. If you feel you are not ready for the master cleanse fast during which you only drink the lemonade for a number of days,it is possible to get benefit by using the Liver cleanse on an empty stomach, and just eating more 'clean' natural foods this season, .
If you wish to fast more intensely, please research advice about entering and ending your fast correctly and consult your healthcare provider because it is easy to initiate a healing crisis by fasting incorrectly.
I recommend the advice in the book: Eating with the Seasons by Elison Hass available on our website.(link).
If you want support in your spring cleaning, schedule a coaching session on the website.( link) I'd love to help you. HAPPY SPRING!

I was introduced to the Lotus meditation while in Sweden, by Wei Ling Yi, the Chi Gung master from China. I have been practicing the Lotus meditation for years, but it was not until I experienced the Lotuses in their natural majesty that I even began to grasp the meaning of the meditation. My experience in the meditation has changed exponentially. I am so very grateful for the gift of experiencing the Lotus directly. I was able to join a guided tour in Lake Erie Metro Park with a botanist, who actually waded out and picked a lotus and proceeded to cut it up to show the structure. When I got over the shock of seeing him so easily destroy such beauty, I actually enjoyed sharing his scientific awe and enthusiasm for the Lotus plant. Some of the things he said: - The vast, field of flowers projecting one meter above the water were on stems reaching deep into the still deep water, growing from sausage shaped rhizomes all of which were connected to each other!
- The vast maybe 1/2 mile square field, that we saw on one side of the lake was probably ONE SINGLE PLANT! Amazing!
- The almost round leaves are about one foot across. Imagine!
- Every aspect of the plant from the rhizomes deep underwater, the tiny veins webbing the huge leaves, to the petals of the flowers and the seed capsules consists of long fine tubules through which the plant BREATHS!
- A cross section of the rhizome resembles our lung tissue. (In fact, Lotus root is used in Oriental Medicine to soothe the lungs and the lotus seeds are used to quiet agitation in the heart.)
- The whole plant is covered with a microstructure like wax, which causes everything to just roll right off the surface-water rolls around like mercury on the surface of the leaf, in the rain you can hear occasional splashes a leaves bend over to release water that has pooled in the center of the leaf.
I remember Wei Ling Yi saying that our soul is like the Lotus in that troubles, bad energies, any of the world's pollutants or our biological experiences, just roll right off and never sully the soul, which is inviolable like the Lotus. Sitting with them I was enchanted by the subtle sweet perfume that permeated my senses, almost undetected until you were just soaked in its subtle beauty. Presence is like that, subtle, or all pervasive, when you sense it, it is already a part of you. I felt somehow a part of IT as if my small being had been encompassed by the vast presence of such beauty. My thoughts are that we too are like the lotus, arising from and disappearing into, the vast unseen nexus of Existence. Thus we say, "I am Lotus, Lotus am I". "I am one with that vast potential from which I arise and into which I disappear."The entire field disappears entirely each winter and reappears in the spring. It has done so for as long as can be traced in local human memory, well over one hundred years. We don't know how old the biomass really is. The huge field grows all summer, each blossom replaced by another, until late August/ September. They are at their best in early August. To those of you in Michigan reading this blog, They are in Lake Erie Metro Park down the I-75 in Southeast Michigan on the shores of Lake Erie. It is the experience of a lifetime, trust me. GO SEE THEM. I'm hoping that We can someday invite the Chi Gung master Wei Ling Yi to come here bringing his healing energy to us in Southeast Michigan. The lotus is here already. I choose to read the presence of the Lotus field here, as a good omen inspiring hope and trust in us that like the Lotus field, all of life in this part of the world, will regenerate and blossom anew. Please join us via telephone for a free Lotus Meditation every Wednesday at 9 am and again at 9PM EST. Call in Number (559) 726-1200 Code # 289286. Let the lotus fragrance enfold you and brighten your day. Welcome, Esther
ShenJing Acupressure is an invitation to and a celebration of the field of infinite potential which emerges when a bodyworker/therapist and their client meet as equals without judgment and with trust, compassion and yes, love. Love is safety. When we feel safe, the accumulated armoring from a lifetime of fear begins to melt, the core intelligence emerges and vibrant life energy begins to flow and blossom!
In my 30 years as an acupuncture/acupressure therapist and educator I have witnessed repeatedly the almost miraculous emergence of self awareness and self confidence during a compassionate acupressure session. After 13 years of teaching students in Sweden to become skillful Acupressure therapists, when I came to Michigan, I realized that one on one sessions could often seem too costly in terms of time or money for the people who needed them most. I therefore created Core Health Institute in order to empower ordinary people to discover their own enormous healing potential by teaching them preventive self care and safe simple effective techniques that they could use to support the work of their therapist or healthcare provider.
You can learn to use simple effective tools from Traditional Asian Medicine: Acupressure's gentle touch, Chi Gung breath and movement, balanced nutrition, organic essential oils, and compassionate self awareness, to relieve pain and stress, resolve trauma and foster wellbeing for yourself and those you love.
ShenJing Acupressure is a great gateway to bodywork because it can be done safely and effectively, anywhere, anytime, by anyone. When we teach self care we use books by Michael Reed Gach such as: Acupressure for Lovers, Acupressure for Healing the Emotions, Acupressure for Arthritis, Acupressure for common problems and Pierre Jean Cousin's book for non-surgical Acupressure Facelift, which you can access through our website: www.corehealthinstitute.com.
ShenJing Acupressure uses gentle touch to stimulate the same bioelectric acupoints that are stimulated by needles in acupuncture, so it is acupuncture without needles. Yes, it is as effective as acupuncture, and acupressure self care is a wonderful complement to many healing modalities, as well as to acupuncture therapy. So if you receive acupuncture, ask your therapist if there are points that you can stimulate between treatments to support the work that you are doing together.
This is an important point (pardon the pun); your bodywork, and in fact any form of care, is most effective if you are doing it as a team. Treatment comes from outside, healing from inside. Your own innate healing intelligence must guide and support the work of your therapist. Great change happens when you claim responsibility, the ability to respond, compassionately and effectively your life experience. Compassion is literally, "to feel together", and reflects the truth that we are connected seamlessly in shared consciousness: the field beyond ideas, the unified field from which we emerged and to which we shall return. Compassion with your inner child and with the vulnerable needy or wounded parts of yourself, is a great place to start, if you want to see peace in the world and to have loving relationships with others
The Chinese sages sa y, 'CHI follows YI': Bioelectric Energy follows the pathways that the mind creates for it. Our combined attention, intention, and compassionate touch can open blockages to the flow of blood, lymph and CHI which can cause the warning sensations of pain and may indicate dysfunction and disease. By working together, therapist and client can begin the process of resolution and recovery and foster the reemergence of our core healthy potential. We are each creative, resourceful and whole.
Learning to meet the pain, greet it as a meaningful messenger and work together to interpret the message and respond creatively; rather than 'shooting the mailman' with pain medications, which mask the sensation but do little to correct the cause, is an important function of skilful acupressure body work.
There is an epidemic of addiction to prescription medication in America. According to the Centers for Disease Control there are more deaths annually from prescription drug overdoses than from all illegal drugs combined. Acupuncture and Acupressure have been used effectively as adjunctive treatments for drug addiction and other addictive behaviors as well as for pain and generalized stress relief.
Join us at Core Health Institute or call for a free initial session to explore the love affair between Spirit and Body. You are a divine being, you have a mind and a body and you experience their relationship through your emotions.
Make your experience a love affair!

Today I did around thirty ear acupressure treatments for the staff of a large company during their annual safety and wellness program. People were stressed because of massive layoffs and really appreciated the opportunity to center and relax. I am constantly amazed how quickly the CHI ear beads act. People melt before your eyes. Tense facial muscles turn into a gentle smile, shoulders drop and pains disappear. New mothers will use the beads to lose their baby 'fat'. Older mothers will use the Shen Men point to calm their boys and avoid using drugs to help them focus in school. I came home tired but grateful to have such a simple yet effective gift to share. .. We will have CHI Circles at the beautiful Vivo Center starting in July. Denise Strauss, the colon therapist who has created this healing space is devoted to providing support for people to create wellness in their lives. There is a great seminar series at the center. We are planning a 'Heal the Healer ' retreat in the autumn. We will have a CHI circle weekly. Check the program for dates or sign up for a newsletter from www.VivoWellnessCenter.com
Happy New Year Dear Friends in Bahrain, I enjoyed sharing the coffee morning at World Beat fitness Center with those of you who were there. The good news is I did not leave in December as planned and will stay until mid-February. I was so sad to have to leave so soon after meeting you all. This additional time seems a real gift. Changing my plans was also a huge reminder about following your heart. Because I followed my heart and changed my travel dates, I was not on the flight as planned, on Christmas day from Amsterdam to Detroit, that you probably heard about on the news! We have much to be grateful for. I will be joining Bushra Winter who will be leading us in creating an inspiring New Year during the upcoming coffee morning on January 21. See the website: www.worldbeatfitness.com, for details. I hope to see you there. And follow the link for photos! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=215648103360&set=a.215647183360.130880.202880523360& There will also be limited opportunities to meet with those of you who are interested in a follow up class or in private sessions. Please let me know your interests. I will be concentrating on writing a book and finalizing some recordings, but I will find time to do the following, if there is interest: · To teach a NECK RELEASE ACUPRESSURE CLASS in which you will learn to treat those near to you with gentle touch to release the pain and tension that builds up in the neck and shoulders. Popular with couples. · Some ladies from the coffee morning requested a COMPLETE FACE LIFT CLASS if there is interest. This will be an opportunity to learn the full Acupressure Face lift technique, and will be about 3 hours. · I will be available to do a few private consultations at 50BD per session. (There is a 10% discount for former clients). As opposed to just getting a treatment that will give short term relief, you will receive support and techniques to specifically address your personal circumstances and health concerns, thereby putting access to your health in your hands. Because this is done in your home, many people have taken this as a great opportunity to involve their partners and family. A great way to re-enforce your CHI Techniques. See my website: www.CoreHealthInstitute.com for details on ShenJing Acupressure. · I can conduct CHI SELF CARE TRAINING RETREAT for you and your family, staff or friends. In the retreat, you will receive chi ear beads as well as instruction in self care techniques for your individual needs. CHI RETREATS are a cost effective way to receive care, support and training as well as the invigorating group chi that is created when we gather. CHI RETREATS can be priced to suit your needs and time frame from one hour to one day, and can be held wherever you wish. · We are planning at least one other CHI SELF CARE RETREAT, which will meet on a Saturday morning, or another date if there is enough interest, to give the people who have learned to apply CHI BEADS a chance to practice as well as to give you a chance to train in basic CHI SELF CARE ENERGY MANAGEMENT TOOLS. Please contact me via email here or by phone on: +36729 356 as soon as possible, preferably before January 10, to reserve your place or register your interest. I will notify you of retreats and classes as they are scheduled, or you can check the calendar on my website: www.corehealthinstitute.com Looking forward to sharing this New Year full of potential joy and well being with you, Esther Yaquta Rabbab Ph: 36729 356
